Design and planning
A Hip-to-Gable remodel of a house in Fernhurst, in the South Downs National Park.
The brief was more space, more light and a better way to live day to day. We changed the roof from Hip to Gable with a new pitch, which opens up the whole first floor.
To the rear and side, a new extension sits under a catslide roof, with apex glazing, a Juliet balcony and wide bifold doors to the garden.
Inside, a boot room and mud zone by the back door, a log burner in the living room, and kitchen and dining space that opens to the terrace.

Studio
Above the garage, the roof was redesigned to make a Pilates studio in the space beneath it, reached by its own external staircase.
At the front, a new porch stoop gives the entrance a proper welcome. Rooflights were taken out of the design at the planning stage.
