Interior and landscape design for a semi-detached cottage in Fernhurst, in the South Downs National Park.

The brief was to give a characterful Fernhurst cottage colour and personality, room by room, while keeping it warm and easy to live in, and to design a garden to match.

Deep green panelling frames the main bedroom. Botanical wallpaper brings the garden indoors, and a bright yellow paper lifts the space under the stairs.

​

In the sitting room, built-in shelving and a dark fireplace sit against soft blue walls.

The bathroom pairs a roll-top bath with a Crittall-style shower screen and patterned floor tiles. The kitchen keeps things simple: white brick tiles, open shelving, a blue breakfast bar and a range cooker.

Our landscape design for the garden adds a glazed garden room, a courtyard for dining and raised planting beds, linking the garden back to the house.
